Mortem was created by an unknown scientist a year before the creation of the Makuta. He spent nearly 200 years in stasis, being telepathically taught in various subjects about the world, himself, and his abilities and how to use them. When the Makuta's rebellion began, the scientist was killed, and the lab was compromised, resulting in Mortems stasis tube shutting down, awakening him. He spent years wandering the Matoran Universe, living a simple hunter gather life, until the destruction of the Mata-Nui robot. Upon evacuating, Mortem joined a large group who migrated to the south-central region of Spherus Magna. Using his abilities, Mortem soon managed to gain control of these warriors, and organized them into a legitimate military force. It was then he began his conquest of Spherus Magna under the title of The Federation of Darkness. For nearly 200 years, his conquest proves largely successful, until the Order of Mata-Nui and the Dark Hunter ally together to fight them. The war finally ends when Mortem is struck down when his head is smashed by the dying Toa Helryx. Unknown to any of them, Mortems soul was bound to a skrall shield that he wore as a hat, which remained in the ruins of the Federations main base for the next 200 years. Recently however, through mind controlling  Rhakshi like creature named Lusus, and throwing himself into a hidden pool of Energized Protodermis, resulting in Mortem gaining a new body. He then unleashed a signal, calling all living Federation members to return 
to the Federations base, and soon hundreds of various warriors began arriving, and with a new army in place, Mortem officially re-established the Federation of Darkness.

Personality: Mortem is extreme intelligent. an excellent strategist with knowledge of multiple languages and fighting styles, Mortem is a force to be reckoned with. He is also an expert manipulator, which was demonstrated when he managed to convince thousands of beings of different specie to follow his leadership. Mortem however is exxtremly quick to anger, and must meditate regularly in order to keep himself in check.

Powers/Abilities: Mortem has a variety of abilities. He is able to levitate, and can shoot a multiple beams from his eyes, which include a heat beam, a disintegration beam, and a beam that can turn beings to stone. He is extremely agile, and has above average speed and strength. He also somehow is able to shoot flames from his hands, and is telekinetic. He wears a Skrall shield as a hat, and carries the Spear of Fusion.
